Our commitment

We advise clients on the social dimension of sustainability. A website that excluded people would be a poor advertisement for that, so this site was built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA from the component level up, rather than audited at the end.

What that means in practice

  • Every page works from the keyboard alone, with a clearly visible focus indicator that is never hidden behind the sticky header.
  • Body text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, and interface elements such as form borders and icons meet at least 3:1, in both light and dark themes.
  • Every interactive target is at least 24 by 24 CSS pixels, and most are considerably larger.
  • Content reflows without horizontal scrolling down to a 320 pixel viewport width, and remains usable at 400% zoom.
  • Motion is minimal, and is switched off entirely for anyone whose system requests reduced motion. Nothing moves or advances on its own.
  • Images carry meaningful alternative text; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Our contact form uses no image CAPTCHA. Spam is filtered without asking you to solve a puzzle.
  • Headings follow a logical order, and the page structure uses real landmarks rather than styled containers.

Conformance status

We consider this website to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. That is our own assessment, made against the guidelines and the testing described below, rather than a certificate from a third party.

Known limitations

  • The project experience register is a wide table. On a phone it scrolls sideways within its own frame so that each record stays on one row, which the guidelines allow for data tables. The search and filters above it work at any screen size, and the whole register can be printed.
  • Some project photographs are supplied by clients and architects. They carry descriptive alternative text, but fine detail in a photograph cannot be conveyed in full.
  • Documents we publish as PDFs may not always meet the same standard as the web pages. If you need a document in another format, ask and we will provide one.

Compatibility

The site is designed to work with current versions of Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox on desktop, and Safari and Chrome on iPhone and Android. It is built to work with screen readers such as VoiceOver on Apple devices, TalkBack on Android and NVDA on Windows. The content of every page remains available with JavaScript switched off.

Alternative formats and help

If any information on this site is difficult for you to use, we will provide it another way, for example as a plain text email, a larger print document or a conversation by phone.

Tell us if something is wrong

If you encounter a barrier on this site, email consulting@esdgreentech.com or call 03-7803 2978 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm), with the page address and a short description of the problem. We aim to respond within five working days and to fix confirmed issues promptly.

How this was tested

This site was checked with automated accessibility tooling on every page, by keyboard-only navigation, on emulated iPhone, Android and tablet screens, and by manual review of colour contrast in both the light and dark themes. Automated tools catch only part of the picture, so we welcome reports from people who use assistive technology every day.

Review

We review this statement whenever the site changes significantly, and at least once a year. The date at the top shows the most recent review.
